Proof of what?

Last post before bedtime. As some of you may have noticed, I'm increasingly becoming quite the Cat Power fan, and the arrival of her latest album The Greatest last week served only to secure her place in my top ten. I've been listening to an advance copy of it for months, but seening the unbelievably garish and kitchy cover was an added treat. Not only is it bling bling and hot pink, it's also chatoyant, i.e. it refracts the light so it appears to change colour depending on your perspective. It is by far the most horrendous looking CD I own, and I love it! Hilarious. However, the reason I'm posting about this now, is that I've just seen the new music video to accompany the song 'Living Proof', which I assume must be the first single. Not only does the video continue the slightly bizarre hip hop image, but it also seems to be some sort of comment on Christianity and Islam, but I'm damned if I can work out what it's all about. Any ideas? And what's the implication of the red sleeves glimpsed during the close-up of the running Muslim woman? That we're all the same if you take away our crosses and burqas? I.e. dressed in tacky bling bling jumpsuits? What?
As usual, answers on a postcard, please.

I'm sure this is all terribly boring...

music: Cat Power — The Greatest
Last night I decided it was time I got away from the Upper West Side for a change, so I went downtown to see Cat Power playing at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center. It was a free concert, which meant that some people had (free) tickets which they'd got their hands on at some point in the previous weeks, and everyone else, like me, had to stand outside and wait to see if there was room. Luckily there was.
